When you can’t find a good discount on Adobe CC or other expensive but critical software–or even some hardware–shop at Academic Superstore. I have reliably purchased from them since the late 90s.
You may recall that the Austin-based company mascot used to be a cute little scarfed penguin, but now it features a more pedestrian graduation cap.
The company, purchased in 2009 by JourneyEd, continues to offer educational discounts on major packages from heavy hitters like Microsoft, Adobe, Corel, Avid, Kaspersky, Kwikboost, Techsmith, LapCabby, Sophos, Symantec, VMware, and Wacom.
Note that the versions they sell are not generally cripple-ware. You get the same commercial software that others pay thousands more for, and all you have to do is prove you are a poverty-stricken student or educator, which your institutional email and camera phone make a simple task. In fairness, you don’t actually have to prove you are poor, but when you work in education, or have to pay for education, that’s a given, right?
